D’Ray BBQ, Q-Sauce

This is my first attempt at making a southern-style barbecue sauce. It is sweetish, cumin-forward, and has a controlled after-heat. However, I have some ideas to improve it, so #2 is coming.

Ingredients

  • Tomato paste, 4 tbsp.
  • Molasses, 6 tbsp.
  • Chili powder, 1/2 tsp.
  • Cayenne red pepper, 1/8 tsp.
  • Paprika, 1/4 tsp.
  • Coarse black pepper, 1/2 tsp.
  • Kosher salt, 1/4 tsp.
  • Cumin, 1/4 tsp.
  • Apple-cider vinegar, 1/4 cup
  • Water, about 1/4 cup to adjust the viscosity.

Combine the ingredients, mix thoroughly, and refrigerate.
