
This is my first attempt at making a southern-style barbecue sauce. It is sweetish, cumin-forward, and has a controlled after-heat. However, I have some ideas to improve it, so #2 is coming.
Ingredients
- Tomato paste, 4 tbsp.
- Molasses, 6 tbsp.
- Chili powder, 1/2 tsp.
- Cayenne red pepper, 1/8 tsp.
- Paprika, 1/4 tsp.
- Coarse black pepper, 1/2 tsp.
- Kosher salt, 1/4 tsp.
- Cumin, 1/4 tsp.
- Apple-cider vinegar, 1/4 cup
- Water, about 1/4 cup to adjust the viscosity.
Combine the ingredients, mix thoroughly, and refrigerate.
